There were two nude dresses making headlines this weekend, both on Saturday night. We’ll start in Hollywood, at the Academy Museum Gala, with three (at least that I saw) Kardashian-Jenners in attendance: Kim, Kendall, and Kylie. 

 

My favourite out of all three, surprisingly, is Kylie. Because as I have I said in the past, Kylie’s looks always blend together for me, they’re forgettable, so I don’t buy into the idea that she’s one to watch and wait for at the major events. This one, though, while still comfortably in her wheelhouse, is truly spectacular. 

 

Kylie is a Mugler favourite, she has established a strong relationship with the house, and this dress, ahead of its time from 1998, is perfectly suited to her. In fact, in my opinion, she actually looks better in it than on the runway from back in the day.

To me the construction and the shape of it really comes to life on Kylie, like the dress had been waiting over 25 years to be worn to its full potential. I don’t remember ever reacting this way to a look on her, which is what makes this so… special? 

 

Over in Cleveland, Zendaya was breaking the internet, again, also in a nude dress and also from the archives. She was inducting Cher into the Rock Hall, so this is Bob Mackie, with the long black wig, as Zendaya and Law are setting a standard two weeks early for the girls at Halloween. Who could possibly step to this? That F-CKING COAT!

 

Zendaya has served a tight look before. She’s served a crop and cutout look before. What’s interesting to me about those times is that even if the piece was melted onto her body or even if she was showing off a lot of skin, it never felt naked. There was always a design feature the made it so that the tightness or nudeness wasn’t the main feature. Here though, no doubt, the skin is the main feature. And that’s why it feels fresh to me. Because we don’t see Zendaya in a nude dress all day every day. She’s showing off angles and curves of her body we haven’t been introduced to, until now. Law chose the perfect moment to showcase her in this way. 

In other Zendaya news, Tom Holland has been making headlines the last couple of days for his appearance on Rich Roll’s podcast talking about how handy he is. Via PEOPLE: 

"I wouldn't call myself a carpenter. I have built things in the past. I could fix a door for you if it came off the hinges. One of my favorite things is if something breaks in Zendaya's house, I take HUGE pride in fixing it. The other day she has this guest room. It wasn't the greatest room. It needed some love.” He continues, "Yeah, like built her these cupboards and put a new wardrobe up for her and fitted it in so it looked like it was part of the wall. And then I was very proud of myself."

 

Girl, being with a man who is handy is the hottest sh-t ever. I am married to one and in my case, it makes up for a lot of, um, flaws. Jacek, my husband, has terrible style. He’s also turning into Larry David with how he behaves in public. But he can fix and/build. My parents are always calling him over to fix sh-t. He remodelled both of our bathrooms. He can do floors. Sometimes he disappears into our garage out back and comes out having done whatever to his golf clubs that other people have to take to a golf shop to achieve. One day I shredded the tamper for our Vitamix and it looked beyond repair. He ended up doing some kind of magic on it so that we didn’t have to get a replacement. His handiness is a gift that keeps giving while I sit on the couch eating chips just coming up with a list of things I would like to have made or repaired. This is how he earns me! And this is how Tom earns Zendaya, as he should!
