Blink Twice opens at the end of this week, which means Zoë Kravitz and the cast are fully outside, on their press tour.

Over the weekend, Zoë was in London along with Channing Tatum, Naomie Ackie, and Blink Twice producers Garret Levitz and Tiffany Persons, who produced the film alongside Zoë and CTates, and Oscar-winning producer Bruce Cohen, who was at the LA premiere a couple weeks ago. I like that the producers are being included front and center on the press tour; it shows that Zoë Kravitz, as a director, understands the collaborative nature of filmmaking.

It shows in her work, too, Blink Twice is a film that could only exist under two circumstances: 1) a torturous, possibly even toxic set where no one is super into anything that’s happening but they follow through anyway because they’ve been hired to do a job (tremendous films have been made under these circumstances, but it’s always a bummer to hear about it); or 2) an environment that has nurtured deep trust and resulting commitment from everyone present, because everyone sees the vision and is willing to follow their director down that road because they believe in what they’re doing. Something tells me Blink Twice is the product of #2, and I hope I never hear otherwise. Please don’t ruin this one, this movie is SO fun, and Zoë Kravitz is SO talented behind the camera.

But speaking of Zoë and CTates, last week they dipped into the Criterion Closet together. If you’re not aware, the Criterion Closet is a real place, in the offices of the Criterion Collection, and they let celebrities visit and pick out a bagful of films from their collection. It is usually entertaining (Michael Shannon’s episode starts out normal and ends unhinged, naturally), and Zoë and CTates are no exception. They’re adorable. When Zoë laments being so short, I felt it in my soul. Like Zoë, I am what I call “top shelf short”, which means I can’t reach anything on the top shelf without assistance. I long to be tall enough to reach the top shelf. You can see the Zoë/Channing height dynamic on display in this video, too, she keeps going for the mid-to-low shelves, he keeps going for the top shelf. Tall privilege!

But between the two of them, they manage to cover the whole closet, and end up with a solid selection of films. I stan a couple with good taste!

They also went to Taylor Swift’s show – Channing shared it this morning, relationship fully outside.
