Megan Thee Stallion covers Billboard and talks about how women are dominating rap right now, even though some might not want to admit it. I also love what she says about pretty much being her own label, doing so much sh-t for herself. And how she doesn’t know everything but she’s learning along the way. This is valuable experience, she’s only 29 years old. In ten years? Imagine the knowledge and the wisdom she’ll have accumulated. (Hollywood Unlocked)
Kate Winslet is promoting Lee in a dress that I feel like I saw on her ten years ago. So the effect of these pictures is that it could be 2014 or 2024 and is that the moment when someone becomes ageless? It’s a style hack, right? Or is it a style rut? (Go Fug Yourself)
As Sarah has written repeatedly, Joker: Folie à Deux has all the characteristics of a musical. But for whatever reason, everyone associated with the film does not want to call it a musical, including Lady Gaga. But she basically just described a musical when describing the film. What is this aversion? Are they afraid that if they call the film what it is that it won’t be taken as seriously? It’s premiering in Venice, Joaquin Phoenix won an Oscar for this role that he’s reprising. Everybody is taking it seriously, maybe too f-cking seriously. And it’s not like musicals are my favourite genre but they’re making me defensive about musicals because what’s with the disrespect? (Pajiba)
It’s been like The Hunger Games trying to get tickets for the Oasis reunion. And now there’s some speculation that they’ll be expanding the tour, perhaps to North America. Which would mean … a longer period of time that Liam and Noel Gallagher have to maintain civility. They’re planning a documentary for this, right? If not they should be. Because I would watch the sh-t out of it. I have no interest in the tour but I have so much interest in the film. (Celebitchy)
There’s a BookTok controversy and it doesn’t involve It Ends With Us. Apparently there’s an influencer who’s been scamming independent authors and she’s now being called out. Scamming is never out of style, no matter the social media platform. (The Mary Sue)
