Apart from the co-chairs and the celebrities on the host committee, the Met Gala never confirms in advance the other famous people who will be attending the event and design houses hosting tables usually hold that information until a day, or maybe two, in advance. But there are a couple of hotels close to the Museum where many of the guests usually stay so you can often tell by who’s checking in and around over the weekend who might be going.

And of course right about now is when all the rumours start flying around, like what I just wrote in today’s site open about BTS. Zendaya is on one of the many rumour lists that have been compiled and posted about the Met Gala attendees.

She’s been many times before, she has co-chaired before, she’s become one of the most anticipated arrivals – of course if she wants to be there, Louis Vuitton and Anna Wintour would make it happen.

Officially, though, Zendaya was apparently in New York yesterday in her capacity as On ambassador, dressed in On gear and supposedly shooting another campaign. Maybe the timing is convenient, she can fulfill her sponsorship obligations to that brand and then be at the Met for LV or Rolex… or any and all of the design houses who want to dress her. Like… The Row? She was in The Row recently when she was doing press for The Drama.

The Row, of course is Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, who used to be Met Gala regulars, showing up in defiance of the theme, every single time, with their pouts and boho waves. But Ashley and MK actually haven’t been to the Met Gala since 2019 and keep a very, very low profile, as usual. They were papped yesterday in New York though – I was actually surprised to see them not trying to hide their faces, and instead smiling broadly, rare on rare on rare on rare. Will the Olsens be making a Met Gala comeback? I’ve missed them. And I’m not sure the TikTok generation understands how much joy (through scowls) they brought to the event in their time.
