Tom and Zendaya’s good timing

In case you forgot, Tom Holland and Zendaya got married secretly. And that’s literally all we know. It’s truly a secret. No one can specify a time or a place, and the only reason we started talking about it is because Law Roach was strategically sent out to tell us we missed it. Since then, Tom has confirmed it a few times by calling her his “wife” but, amazingly, since he’s been known to be a human spoiler, he’s managed to reveal nothing else.
This week Tomdaya pulled it off again with their wedding celebration. PEOPLE has confirmed that it happened on Tuesday - and that confirmation also seems to be by design, not accidental.
It happened at Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey, just outside London. And even though they booked out the whole place, no media or paparazzi was there. The only reason the media is sniffing around about it seems to be because two of Zendaya’s friends (one being her hairstylist) posted about being in London, AFTER the fact. As recently as last night, fans on social media were thinking the party was taking place this coming weekend.
Turns out those posts were shared after the fact, so Law’s words still play.
What makes that much more difficult is the timing. It’s not like Tom and Zendaya have been under-the-radar lately. For two months they’ve been as visible as it gets with both The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. So much of the pop culture discourse has been about these two movies, and the rest of it has been about their relationship – endless edits being posted from their interviews and red carpet appearances, all of them being watched (by me and Kathleen) and obsessed over (by me and Kathleen).
Everyone knew where they were, too. Because the final stop on the Brand New Day press tour was at home in London. They’re the first married couple in history to be in both the top two movies at the box office – and both movies are billion dollar movies. It doesn’t get more heatscore! And somehow, with the biggest pop culture spotlight and satellites and whatever other spying tools tracking them, they threw a private party at a huge castle without disturbance. It’s a high degree of difficulty, totally tracks with their reputations, and only adds to their lore.
