TNT: Courtside and Backtrack
The NBA Eastern Conference Finals were in Cleveland this weekend, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce showed up to support the Cavs, though their presence didn’t help – the Knicks now have a commanding 3-0 lead in the series, riding a 10-game win streak through the playoffs.
Back to TNT though, because they’re on a kinda streak too: a streak of steady appearances over the last three or four weeks, from London to New York to Cleveland, especially intriguing since their rumoured wedding dates are fast approaching.

The first, of course, is June 13, now just over two weeks to go. Us Weekly reported that in a cover story. The second is the Independence Day weekend in New York. It was Page Six that claimed that exclusive… although they appear to be walking it back now. But a new story published on Saturday about Taylor and Travis’s wedding guest list included this detail:
“Although Page Six was alerted that save-the-date notes had gone out for a bash in NYC on July 3, some in Swift’s orbit say the pair is having fun with all the rumors — and maybe trying to throw off paparazzi.
“That’s not when that wedding is happening. Trust me,” said one source.”
OK so have they gone back to their original “source” who told them it was July 3 to be, like, what’s up? Is this all a ruse? Of course not. The point is not to get it right, since there are no consequences to getting it wrong. The point is to simply generate content, no matter where it comes from, it doesn’t have to be accurate. Like the part where this source is saying that Zoë Kravitz has been invited, even though the source says that her relationship with Taylor right now is “bumpy”.
And then there’s the f-ckass Daily Mail – they too are trying to manufacture as much TNT wedding content as possible, supposedly hearing from someone who claims to have been invited but won’t be going because they did not get a plus-one. The alleged guest tells the Daily Mail that:
“I mean, what am I supposed to do? Go alone? That is so awkward. I don’t think I am going to attend because I don’t want to go by myself and I am not sure I will know too many people there. I mean, sorry, I am not friends with Gigi and Bella Hadid!”
Do we really believe that a person invited to the TNT wedding would be running to the Daily Mail to say that they’ve RSVP’d “no” on the grounds that they can’t bring a friend? Who would risk the threat of excommunication by exposing themselves as a tabloid leak? If Taylor Swift is using her upcoming wedding as a way to edit down her friends list by sniffing out the ones who are running their mouths, it will be my favourite thing about her.
