Dakota Fanning is currently in the UK doing press for her new film, The Watchers, which appears to be called The Watched in the UK. It’s a horror movie and the feature film debut of writer/director Ishana Night Shyamalan, M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter.
It certainly looks like a Shyamalan movie!
I’m not worried about that girl, she’s palling around with a bird. Everyone knows birds are just feathered goblins. She’ll be fine.
The Watchers/The Watched comes out in June, then, in August, Night releases his latest movie, Trap, which features original music from and a performance by his other daughter, Saleka, who performs as pop musician Lady Raven in the film. So it’s a full blown Shyamalan nepo baby summer, I super look forward to the Shyamalan daughters joining the nepo baby discourse during their respective press tours.
Just a reminder, children of famous people, all anyone wants you to do is acknowledge the inherent privilege of growing up plugged into a highly competitive creative industry. It’s not a judgment on your talent or accomplishment—Saleka’s music isn’t bad—it’s just a bare-bones acknowledgment that you had an advantage going in.
