Nicolas Cage’s greatest role may be playing himself, but let us not forget that he is also playing Dracula in the upcoming Renfield, a retelling of Dracula from henchman Renfield’s perspective. Described as a horror-comedy, Renfield stars Nicolas Hoult as Renfield; Awkwafina as Rebecca, Renfield’s love interest; Ben Schwartz as a gangster called Terry Lobo; and Cage as Dracula. PEOPLE has exclusive set photos of a bloodied Hoult and Cage done up as Dracula. He looks PERFECT, absolutely NO NOTES.

Cage told GQ that his inspiration is David Bowie’s Thin White Duke, and I can see it. Cage’s look is dapper, just a touch mod. And the pale skin, of course, the slicked back hair, the horrible yellow claws, the bloodless lips. Maybe not those last two so much, but of course Cage’s take on Dracula will be a little bit rock’n’roll and a little bit Goth. That’s Nicolas Cage in a nutshell. In the GQ interview, Cage sounds pretty positive on this movie, which, you never know how things will turn out, but the idea—Renfield tries to quit working for Dracula when he falls in love—is pretty solid. I wonder if they’ll play it like a love triangle. That might be a little Nandor/Guillermo from What We Do in the Shadows, but I would love to see a Dracula movie make the Renfield subtext the actual text. Mostly, though, I can’t wait to see Nicolas Cage lounging around as Goth Rock Dracula. I bet this Dracula has one of those elaborate chairs that looks vaguely like a medieval torture device. Actually, Nicolas Cage probably has one, too.
