Yesterday, Lainey wondered what Sydney Sweeney is in New York promoting, and the answer is Echo Valley, a new thriller from Apple TV+. That’s why she was on Good Morning America yesterday morning, alongside Julianne Moore.
The film stars Sydney and Julianne as a mother-daughter pair engaged in a cover up.
The cover up is always worse than the crime! Anyway, I’m going to watch this because I will watch literally anything Domhnall Gleeson is in. Echo Valley will be in select theaters on June 6 before hitting Apple TV+ on June 13. That’s very Netflix of Apple TV+.
The premiere for Echo Valley was last night in New York. Sydney was there alongside Julianne, Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle McLachlan, and Albert Jones. Sydney wore custom Vera Wang to the premiere:
This dress—a full blown gown, really—feels a bit much for the occasion, but it’s also a guaranteed way to get headlines for Echo Valley, a film with very little advance promotion. If Sydney Sweeney turns up in figure-hugging Jessica Rabbit red, the internet will notice (see? We’re talking about her and the film!). Ultimately, I don’t think she’s over-dressed, I think this is Sydney strategically using fashion to get attention for her new movie. Apple TV+ is doing the bare minimum for this press push, and Sydney is making sure every second counts. She also just plain looks great, the undone hair is a good call in combination with such a formal dress for a relatively small movie’s premiere.
Julianne Moore, meanwhile, is riding high as her new series Sirens is #1 on Netflix.
I tried watching Sirens. Bless Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon, but I could not get through it. Here’s hoping Echo Valley is better.
