As mentioned earlier this week, Tom Holland’s birthday was yesterday. He spent part of it in New York at the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room alongside castmates that include Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum. He looks GREAT in this green velvet suit with the black shirt underneath, open at the neck.

Tom, of course, is best known for playing Peter Parker Spider-Man, and it’s a coincidence of timing that his new television project is out for promotion at the same time as the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. While promoting that film producer Amy Pascal was asked about whether or not there will be a fourth Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland. She told Variety that:

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

Naturally the question came up for Tom at the premiere last night and he basically confirmed what Amy was saying:

If you recall, Tom was pretty exhausted after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sarah wrote about his fatigue just before the release of No Way Home and at the end of that post, she said, “Get a little rest in him and something tells me Tom Holland, nice as ever, will be back raring to go”. He rested and now, it would seem, he’s ready to go.

Remember, No Way Home blew up the box office. The movie made billions (not an exaggeration, the worldwide box office for this movie is $1.9 BILLION) and Hollywood wouldn’t be Hollywood if they’re not always looking for more. But the movie ended on Peter’s sacrifice – in her review, Sarah called it a “KILLER ending” and, in the never-ending debate over what is the best Spider-Man movie, declares that it’s that the last half hour No Way Home which includes “one of the most genuinely heartbreaking moments in the entire MCU”. It was Peter’s version of doing what his mentor, Tony Stark Iron Man, did in Endgame. Sob!!!

No Way Home concludes with Peter reckoning with the consequences of his actions, truly understanding that “with great power comes great responsibility”. Undoing that with a snap or a fix-it spell so that everyone can get back together would be a betrayal of how well that was executed in No Way Home. Like, sure, it’s hard for everyone to accept that Peter’s on his own now with no connection to the people he loves, but if he’s going to find his way back, he has to really earn it. Which means the story has to be tight and right. It has to take into consideration how this loss has changed Peter and what he is and isn’t prepared to do to seek his own fulfillment while respecting his duty as Spider-Man…

And no f-cking Artificial Intelligence is going to be able to do that, so pay the writers what they need to do their jobs, and let’s get back to telling good stories!

Back to Tom’s birthday though, as I noted the other day, it was on his birthday last year that Zendaya lit up the internet with her Instagram post, calling him “the one who makes me the happiest”, the most public she’s ever been about their relationship.

This year the love show was a little more subtle…but it was on stories. First a photo taken from one of their holidays together, and a heart inside a heart.

Then… using her platform to support his work, that’s big love, too.

And then we’re back to hearts – another shot taken from a holiday and heart eyes for her man.

She’s not done with that emoji because that’s the one she left in the comments of his own birthday post.

Why are they so cute?!
