The Beckham family weekend drama
On the other side of the continent, David and Victoria Beckham followed David’s Walk of Fame ceremony with dinner at Nobu in Malibu. It was once again a family affair with Romeo, Cruz, and Harper Seven joining their parents. Romeo’s and Cruz’s girlfriends, Kim Turnbull and Jackie Apostel, respectively, were also there. So it was the Walk of Fame group out to dinner, but the weekend was not without drama.
Friday afternoon, apparently immediately after David’s Walk of Fame ceremony, Harper Seven, still wearing the pink outfit she had on for the ceremony, attempted to see Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham, delivering a letter to his Beverly Hills home. He and Nicola Peltz-Beckham were not in town, though. You can see the photos on Page Six here.
Of the visit, a rep for Brooklyn and Nicola said, “That photographers were in place as the letter was hand delivered says it all — this was choreographed for the cameras.”
Meanwhile, according to a “family source”, Brooklyn’s claim that the letter delivery was choreographed is “clearly nonsense”.
Maybe it WAS a stunt, but it’s also possible that Harper was followed, given that she went directly from a high-profile event covered by dozens of photographers. Brooklyn’s stance is that everything is publicity in his family, so nothing can be trusted. Los Angeles is also crawling with paparazzi, though, and they do follow famous people around town, taking pictures constantly. Harper was an easy target that day, given that she was already out in public, having her picture taken. It would not have been hard for a paparazzo to follow her that day.
There is that law in California that limits paparazzi’s ability to photograph children, but in the decade-plus it’s been in effect, all it’s really done is result in some pixelated photos. But you could make a case that the photographers who took and published unpixellated pictured of Harper must have had parental consent to do so. But then, she’s also in public places, not near a school, and she doesn’t look “alarmed, terrorized, or annoyed”, so the law isn’t really applicable, maybe? It’s confusing. That law hasn’t really stopped paparazzi from photographing famous children.
I’m not discrediting Brooklyn’s feelings, it’s just impossible to know for sure in this instance. Was Harper’s stop by his house staged? Or was it just paparazzi stalking? You literally cannot tell because of the celebrity culture in Los Angeles.
