Adele was photographed the other day in Sardinia, hanging out with Tom Ford. She’s been spending a lot of time with him lately, not only because they are friends but because, for a while there, he was also her boss.

Tom’s next film is Cry to Heaven, based on Anne Rice’s book, set in the world of 18th century Italian opera, with a stacked cast led by Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Colin Firth, Ciarán Hinds, Paul Bettany, Thandiwe Newton, and Mark Strong are also involved. And since this is a story about music and musicians, Adele is part of it too, though we don’t know exactly what her role will be. What we can probably assume, though, is that she will be fabulously dressed. They’ll all be fabulously dressed. After all, this is Tom Ford whose track record as a filmmaker is up and down but his movies always look gorgeous.

Cry to Heaven was expected to be an autumn 2026 release when the project was first announced. Filming reportedly wrapped in March, not sure if that’s enough time in post for them to make the Venice Film Festival, or even TIFF. So we might have to wait a little while longer to see what exactly Adele will be wearing.

In Sardinia, though, she’s been repeating her clothing, specially that Team England John Stones kit. This is what was wearing at the Bad Bunny concert in London a couple of weeks ago…

That was during the World Cup group stage. And now England is in the semifinal tomorrow vs Argentina so it’s not like she can change if she has another kit. Not if she knows about sports superstitions which I’m guessing she does.

What else happened today…

I love this post by Dustin Rowles SO much. Because he’s writing about romance, watching romance, analysing romance, comparing romance. Romance is for everyone, literally. But romance in pop culture is assigned to women. And while I would very much like if this demographic is better served and respected, we should also not assume that the enjoyment of romance movies and shows is exclusive to women, because as Dustin just shared, it’s definitely not. Two more of Angelina Jolie’s children are running ads in the newspaper as part of the official process to change their names and drop the “Pitt”. Which means we’ll probably be getting a nothingburger story soon about how much he loves his girlfriend and how happy they are together. (Celebitchy)

Kelly Pau on how “soft masculinity is the real winner of Love Island USA season 8”. I went from not caring about Bryce in the first week to squealing with delight every time he opened his mouth. (Refinery 29)

Had to rub my eyes and make sure I wasn’t hallucinating this morning when, during my morning scan through the headlines, Tian Xiwei and Zhang Linghe’s faces were staring back at me at Variety. In their Pursuit of Jade looks which… iykyk. But more of you know than ever before because that series broke through to the west, helped in part by the fact that it’s available on Netflix. Still, the story here is that iQIYI viewership has surged this year due to the popularity of Pursuit of Jade, even with the Netflix option. Netflix had to have noticed too since they’re so data obsessed. So now I’m wondering whether or not they’ll be airing Zhang Linghe’s next drama, Overdo, reportedly releasing at the end of the month. This drama has already been viral, for months now, because the visuals during filming were so elite – both ZLH and Wang Churan are so stupidly attractive – and the story is so angsty and dramatic. Overdo is a period piece, but set during China’s Republican era. So this is ZLH in uniform and crisp tailoring instead of slut strands. The thirst will definitely be just as intense. (Variety)
