This isn’t the top story in entertainment, but it is my top story in entertainment. Alec Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer are working on a sitcom together. What in the tossed salad and scrambled eggs?! What happened to the Frasier reboot? That aside, this could be a behind-the-scenes battle of the blowhards – Alec is, obviously, anti-Trump and Kelsey is not as politically outspoken, but he is a known conservative. Maybe, by the time they start filming and with a new administration hopefully peacefully transitioned into the White House, it won’t be an issue. The show is about “three men who were roommates in their twenties until their warring egos drove them apart. Now, the trio are reuniting decades later for one more run at the lives they’ve always wanted.” Who is the third roommate? Perhaps it’s a reverse Three’s Company and the third is a woman (Christine Baranski would be ideal but she is busy with The Good Fight). If it’s a man, my guess is Steve Martin or my pick for everything, Martin Short.
Twitter is introducing a new feature called Fleets, tweets that disappear after 24 hours. With screenshotting available, what is the point of this? Why this and not an edit button?
I suspect Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have split up because this was taken in Whistler, where Shaun won gold for snowboarding in the 2010 Olympics. He didn’t like the photo.
It’s COVID’s birthday and you know this pest is the type to have a “birthday weekend” with a long chain text with several demands (“Roaring 20s” theme, multiple group restaurant reservations with a set menu because they “don’t know what they’ll be in the mood for,” a hashtag for social media, a custom birthday sash they ordered from Etsy) and will spend the whole night “going live” on Instagram and crying in the bathroom because their crush didn’t show up. You know what kind of cake I would get COVID? Red velvet cupcakes because they are both basic and terrible. Go away bitch no one likes you! (Lainey: ummmm…Maria basically just described me.)
The worst kept secret in music is the new Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber collaboration. This morning, Lainey wrote about the latest in the Taylor Swift/Scooter Braun drama and I wonder if there’s a ripple effect on her friendships. Taylor and Shawn are (were?) friends. She chose him to record "Lover" with her. Shawn is also good friends with John Mayer, so this is two strikes against him. Now the old Taylor, the one who rolled with a squad, kept her relationships tight (there was no way Karlie Kloss was hanging with Katy Perry at the height of Bad Blood), so I wonder if this has affected Shawn and Taylor’s relationship and, by extension, Taylor and Camila Cabello. If Taylor happens to drop something on November 20th, like a teaser of a re-recorded song, guess we’ll know.
