Chase Infiniti: Met Gala Best Dressed (Duana)

No no – don’t say anything just yet. Just – take this in.

Apparently it took a million and a half sequins and 600 colours of silk fringe to make this dress.  She looks so full of joy and love in it. When I cover these events, that’s what I’m looking for. That if you could wear the best clothes in the entire world (and put aside all of the things about them and this event that are unfair or capitalist-forward or tone deaf), you’d want to feel that amount of pure freedom and possibility…!

Chase Infiniti is 26 years old, literally right now as of you reading this. Her birthday is May 5^th, today. I know because I checked that, despite knowing how old she was (until yesterday, anyway), because she’s somehow kept a much younger, bubblier version of herself close to hand, and I’m fascinated by the way she’s able to hang onto it. Is it just who she is? Does she meditate on not getting jaded and cynical? Was she the kid someone was always telling to settle down, and so this is as calm and understated as it gets?

You saw what you think you saw. Go ahead and play it again. He seems very focused on not letting go of her hand, and her – who leans around someone like that? Yeah, this is cuuuute…

So. You’re having a good day, you’re smiling again. And Chase? In the past 48 hours, has had a birthday, worn the dress of, let’s be honest, her dreams and mine, and mayyyybe making all those internet rumours a reality? Oh and also she’s on a weirdly great show about the oppression of teenage girls in Gilead and she’s still irrepressible there? Is there nothing that can puncture this woman’s balloon of elation?

This picture is about to become a meme. Something like “When you just keep killing it without even knowing how you’re doing it.” I’ll look forward to your variations.

Not a huge Met Gala, all told, but this dress is an all-time high water mark, and maybe Chase Infiniti is, too.
