Filming for The Studio continues, this time in Venice, California, with Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill filming scenes involving electric scooters. I really enjoyed The Studio, but then, I am the target audience, a person who loves films and filmmaking. I often tease Lainey about The Morning Show, a series made for people who love television and the making of television, so I have to take my lumps when it comes to The Studio, because it’s the same thing.

Of course, the second season will not be the same without Catherine O’Hara, who passed away last year. But I am curious how Rogen & Co. continue building out their slightly-left-of-reality Hollywood, particularly if and how they address AI. I’m sure they’ll do something funny, but I also think no one will top the take in Hacks.

In other Seth Rogen news, The Invite is in theaters, and Rogen talked to his Studio co-star, Ike Barinholtz, who guest hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live!, about filming an intimate scene with Penelope Cruz. It’s one of the funnier scenes in the film. For an R-rated adult-oriented comedy released in the summer, The Invite is doing okay. I hope it picks up a little more steam, it’s great to see a comedy in theaters that prompts so much laughter that you miss lines of dialogue. Remember that? When a movie was so funny, you’d miss the next line because you’re still laughing from the previous joke? The Invite is full of that.

As for The Studio, the season two return has not been confirmed yet, but it is loosely expected later this year. I won’t be surprised if it ends up being 2027, though. After that Batman delay, I just don’t expect anything I enjoy to come out in a timely fashion. Widow’s Bay season two will probably be in 2030.

What else happened today…

Before the World Cup final, let’s take a moment to recognize the lady referees of the tournament. (Popsugar)

Tom Hiddleston recycled a look from Wimbledon for an event. Good! More people should recycle fashion! It’s the only way to be truly sustainable! Also, I am very much looking forward to his docu-series about Pompeii. Yes please, Loki, tell me all about our Italian apocalyptic volcano daddy. (Go Fug Yourself)

Prince Harry was at the TIME 100 Sports Gala last night. He was named on the list for his work with the Invictus Games. He looked pleasantly summer sunburned. Duchess Meghan did not go, she hasn’t made a public appearance in a while, though she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for With Love, Meghan. I wonder if she’ll go to the Daytime Emmys? It’s her first Emmy nomination. If she was just an actor, I bet she would. But she is not just an actor anymore. I’m interested to see how she handles it. I don’t think there is a “right” response, especially because everything she does is complicated by public opinion. Either way, it’s been a busy summer for the Sussexes. (Celebitchy)

Ryan Hurst, the actor cast in the live action God of War series adaptation, was injured on set so badly the producers have elected to just recast the role of Kratos and reshoot scenes with a new actor. Deadline is reporting Hurst suffered a bicep tear that required surgery and up to a year to fully recover. Instead of shutting production and waiting, he has now lost the role, at least for season one.

What I want to know is 1) how did this happen, and 2) is Amazon MGM honoring his contract? Hurst put in a year of body transformation to prepare for the role, which he now no longer has. What does his compensation look like? This is like when athletes get injured in professional sports, their contracts don’t always provide for lengthy recoveries. I feel terrible that Ryan Hurst lost a potentially career-altering role, and I have a lot of questions about the set conditions that led to his injury and the studio’s response to his recovery.
