I first clocked this back in 2017 and again in 2018 - something happens to Robert Pattinson in Berlin. Berlin, for whatever reason, supercharges his fashion gene, his inner Sprockets.
He was in Berlin the other day for Mickey 17 and this was the look:

Not just the clothes though, it’s also the hair. This a full shellack, the most product he’s had in it for a long, long time. And the effect is both severe and funny, giving Zoolander?

One of the headlines today about Rob’s press tour has to do with a comment he made on the red carpet, about the fans who’d gathered to see him, men in particular. Per Variety:
“It’s quite strange,” Pattinson said about so many male fans coming out to support him at the premiere of his newest film. “There’s like a bunch of guys, which is a new one for me!”
I guess that’s the Batman thing because, of course, what he’s referring to is the fact that after Twilight, his fanbase was predominantly female. And since, for the last decade, he’s for the most part avoided projects that target that demo, perhaps deliberately distancing himself from whatever stereotype he was afraid would define his career.
That might change this year though. After Mickey 17, he has Die, My Love, with Jennifer Lawrence. This is not a romance, but it is about a woman’s relationship to herself and the men in her life. And Rob dances with JLaw in the film which, I’m sure, will trigger the girls.
Lynne Ramsay’s ‘DIE, MY LOVE’ is described as a portrait of a woman (Jennifer Lawrence) engulfed by love and madness.

And then there’s The Drama opposite Zendaya, where they play an engaged couple who must try to save their love after one person reveals the worst thing they ever did. Definitely not for the Batman crowd.
You know what else isn’t for the Batman crowd? The aegyo. I was obsessed when he picked it up in Korea a few weeks ago and look at him now. HE’s the one initiating the hand heart with Director Bong – and not the other way around! Pretty soon we’ll see him pulling finger hearts out of his pockets!
