Hudson Williams: Tonight is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
Can you believe that it hasn’t even been six months since Heated Rivalry premiered? So much has happened in such a short time, around and to Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, and we’ve also learned so much about both of them.
In Hudson’s case, it was immediately evident, the moment he stared promoting the show, that he and Shane Hollander are nothing like. Shane does not gravitate toward the party. Hudson, however, can’t resist the party, LOL. And I’m not just talking about the Met Gala – Sarah already posted about HudCon and their fits – I’m talking about the after-party. And the after-after parties.
Hudson took his pants off and spent the night in his boxers under a dress shirt, tuxedo jacket, and a beret. That was around 1am. By 6am the jacket was gone, as he was seen returning to his hotel in full daylight. I’m not a young actor with one of the biggest breakouts we’ve seen in recent memory… but I remember those days, at 25 years old, when your body can sustain the all-nighters and nothing is more fun than not paying attention to the clock. Especially on Met Gala night, and it’s his first time, probably most people would want it to last and last and last.
There was also movie gossip courtesy of Hudson last night – he was so generous – because earlier, before his after-hours escapades, he was seen with Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Maybe it was just a coincidence since they were staying at the same hotel. But maybe there’s more. Because Daisy was recently confirmed to star in the film adaption of Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, directed by Siân Heder whose last feature film, CODA, won the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. Daisy will play the female lead, Sadie, and there have been rumours that Hudson is being considered for a role.
There are two male characters in the book. The lead male character, Sam, is Korean and Jewish, and the supporting male character, Marx is American of Korean and Japanese descent. I love Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, I’ve read it a few times, and there are layers and layers of identity that Gabrielle Zevin is noodling with in her story: racial, social, and physical, since Sam has a disability, and we experience the spaces he occupies and the worlds he builds as a game designer through his lens. Siân Heder insisted on casting only deaf actors for CODA, and I’m curious to see whether or not she’ll do the same with Sam.
As of a couple of months ago, Siân was still working on the script, so it doesn’t seem like they’re heading into production any time soon. For now, then, it’s simply an intriguing sighting of Hudson and Daisy, and they look good together, non?
What else happened today…
Remember all those rumoured Met Gala guest lists ahead of the event? We should do a report card check. There were some reports that Kristen Kish would be there – I didn’t see her, if you did, let me know. Our entire family is obsessed with her: Emily, me, and also Jacek. And yes, I would totally eavesdrop on her dinner conversations. (Vulture)
Still fashion-related: Meryl Streep was not at the Met Gala, Kayleigh Donaldson’s piece on how The Devil Wears Prada made her an icon. (Pajiba)
Emma Chamberlain was one of the early arrivals to the Met Gala, because she was doing interviews for Vogue. And she set a great tone in her Mugler dress so we had high hopes, but maybe her bar was too high. (Celebitchy)
Lola Tung’s next move will be sporty and queer. (Autostraddle)
Anna Wintour woke up today to check the Tony Award nominations, guaranteed. (EW)
